Choice Mentors
Choice Mentors pairs adult collectors who are starting out with experienced volunteer collectors, in moderated threads, for learning only.
Learn from collectors who've been there. Choice Mentors pairs collectors who are starting out with experienced volunteers who want to give back to the hobby. It's part of our Companion level.
How it works
- Request a mentor. Tell us what you collect and what you'd like to learn.
- We make the match. Our team pairs you by category and interests. Pairings run 60 days and can be renewed.
- Learn together in a moderated thread. Your thread is visible to you, your mentor and our staff. There are no private messages, and nobody should ask for your phone number, address or email.
- Bring it back to your collection. Use what you learn in your Collector Portal and the College.
Our rules (for everyone's safety)
- Adults only. Mentors and mentees are 18 or older.
- Learning only. Mentors don't give valuations or financial advice and don't pressure anyone.
- No deals. Mentors never buy from, sell to or trade with their mentees, and there are no paid referrals. Breaking this rule means removal.
- Privacy first. Never share where you keep your collection, and never send photos of your home or storage.
- Report and block are on every thread and profile. Our team reviews reports quickly.
Becoming a mentor
Mentors are volunteers who have been active members for a while, have a well-documented collection in the portal, and have shared helpful, accurate tips with the community. Every mentor agrees to our code of conduct and is approved by our team, and we can remove a mentor at any time.
Mentor levels: Bronze (approved), Silver and Gold, based on mentees helped and time in good standing. Gold mentors may be invited to the Choice Panel.
Recognition: mentor badges, a profile ribbon, and an occasional "Mentor of the Month" feature (only with your consent). Mentoring is volunteer work, not paid work.
Member discounts
Mentors and mentees receive member discounts on Choice supplies, details coming. Discounts never depend on reviews or posts.

- Silver: 5+ mentees helped, no upheld reports
- Gold: 15+ mentees helped, 10+ Verified-by-Choice tips, 6+ months in good standing
Badges: Mentor, Mentor 5, Mentor 25. Member discounts on supplies: size TBD (pending Jay's final approval); supplies only.
